Neither did I know his name nor
destination. He took the train with me. He was my co-passenger with lots of
difference in our destinations. For temporal records it was Ranikhet Express. My
best guess of his destination is Nanakmatta Shrine situated in district Udham
Singh Nagar, which is one of the halting stations of this train.
It
was hard to understand the hind side of his mind but one thing is sure that his
journey is eternal. Religion has a pivotal role in the life of this man. It is
apparent that without exhaust he is on this travel since very very long and
also he has no idea for how long he will continue or how far he has to go
before he can reach till the end.
If
God is there in his heart then where is he going? And if not then why is he
going? These two questions shall remain in the text of my diary even beyond me
as I am sure every religious man on such journey has to answer them.
Religion
itself seems like an unending journey in which passengers often forget to get down
even when they reach the destination. Nature of religion is circular in nature.
It has no end to it. Its self-servient. Its nature is very similar to that of
power. Whosoever wields it wants to hold it and in the end it eats up the
be-holder.
One
afternoon in Nainital, Maria said to me there is no God. It’s just nature. We
all are living as a natural phenomenon. She wanted to say that God is
extra-natural! If I stand on her footing I can understand that but our feelings
on the subject of God were not mutual. I told her that hitherto God has not
withered away from my heart and soul, although following a religion, have never
been compatible with my thoughts and beliefs. Religion is a cyclical process
which seldom reaches to any end. Followers keep following without realizing
that the end has come and gone long back.
As
far as law and religion are concerned, Karl Marx’s often half heard quote
suitably describes it as “Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the
heart of a heartless world and soul of the soulless conditions, It is the opium
of the people” - Karl Marx (Year 1844)

Dilemma in my thoughts
It's a strong belief, complete faith and trust on someone you've never seen but knows that god is there to help you in need , he is there to support you and what ever is happening in your life is because of his wish. .. that is eternal truth ... and may be a feeling when you go to some spiritual place , you feel his presence, his blessings ...may be in search of beyond....
Well said..
A very interesting angle you've portrayed with the blend of a journey in the train with that of life. Adding religion gives it three dimensionality as it is very debatable. Nice read!
Excellent narration
I think that God is not the symbol or introduction of any religion. He is the form of the faith of our conscience. According to Karl Marx, the journey of religion is probably full of frenzy, which has an effect for some time and as soon as the intoxication subsides, the frenzy ends and we come to the ground of reality, but we definitely come. But perhaps by then the storm of frenzy would have destroyed a lot.
Religious faith is absolutely individual matter and there are two ways to follow it. one is Sagun and second is Nirgun ideological way. By sagun ideological way this eternal travellar is very correct on his way because he has faith that his God, or his super spiritual power is present at his destination and by Nirgun ideological way he is completely disillusioned because of being no entity of God or supere spiritual power.
Interesting!
