When do we write Constitutions on Stone Walls.
Only if we had practiced the ideas of
the constitution, perhaps wall inscriptions were not needed.
Writing constitution on the stone wall is sure an indication that a permanent reminder about it is needed every day. We often write things which we tend to forget.
Democracy is not a stone wall to be
demolished only by bulldozers. It can vanish just with a malicious whisper of the
ruler. Constitutions written on stone walls can easily be bulldozed like the shack
of a poor litigant who cannot afford a legal battle.
Constitutions are made to protect the modern ideas of Justice, Liberty, Equality & Fraternity. All these ideas are very
fragile and needs external protection by non-ruling entities. All rulers are power-hungry. Power itself is harsh and destructive.
Constitution is that master, who often need protection
from the very agents it creates!
History tells about stone wall
instructions in the rule of King Ashoka and history also records as what
happened in the Kalinga war was the exact opposite of what King Ashoka inscribed
on the stone walls.
