Freedom for the soul. 

That is the Harley Davidson. 

The Harley journey started few years back when our usual motorcycles couldn’t match with our riding. 

Rafat suggested that we should switch to Harley Davidson. We started the search. It was a billiards blue colour LowRider, which caught our fancy. Rafat went to Dehradun and bought it. He rode the new bike from Dehradun to Nainital on a slightly rainy day. By the time both reached Nainital, it was fully covered with mud and didn’t look like a new bike. However that evening we all celebrated our new purchase.

Next morning we washed and polished it. After clean up, on that bright sunny day, we realized the actual dimensions of our new beast. It was Milwaukee V-Twin 1800 CC engine with the Street Canon exhausts. As the name suggests seating position is low. Which gives a balanced gravity point to the rider to handle the more than 300 kg weight bike easily. Our riding journeys started. Rafat was already an excellent biker. I also gradually learned the riding skills. Mostly our rides were in the hills. Café Gehna, in Mukteshwar and the Bheemtal Bar became our weekend hang outs.

Rafat has that innate ability to findout riders. He found Harley Owners Group (The HOGs) in Haldwani.  Our brother Vikas Smith is the leader of Foothills Kumaon HOGs. He rides a Street Glide. It is a the most powerful and majestic bike manufactured by the Harley Davidson. Of course, it is one of the heaviest bikes in the Harley line up but Vikas is almost perfect in riding and glides on the streets with it.

On the way to our Harley journey we met Jasdeep, Rahul ,Raja ,Vikki. All are great men with the deep sense of brotherhood. We often ride to Ramnagar, Nanakmatta, Nainital, Bheemtal etc. All places have great roads to ride.

Riding comes natural to Vikas. He leads us on the road. We all meticulously follow his hand signs. He has attained perfection in guiding the group. Jasdeep is our best negotiator.  Whenever we go to any place Jasdeep cracks the best deal for us. Rahul keeps us motivated. Raja has the wonderful sense of style which adds shine to our group. And Vikki knows all the best places to eat and enjoy.
