For Any Other Purpose

I remember my law teacher telling me that high courts have more authority and wider jurisdiction to exercise in its territory than the supreme court.

Perhaps that law teacher forgot the distortion and usurpation of power done by supreme court in the name of SLPs.

Although in today’s world, it is a kind of legal blasphemy to even put a sarcasm on supreme court. Forget about criticizing.

No, their shoulders are not broad enough to accept any criticism!

Alas! I have only myself to blame.

I couldn’t not convince my high court that it is supreme as far as its jurisdiction is concerned. It does not need authority from the capital for everything.

It can issue directions, orders, or writs for fundamental rights and “for any other purpose.”

The five English writs were only an exemplar given and were never meant as the absolute boundaries of the writ jurisdiction for my court.

Any way that law teacher was right only in letter but not in spirit.
