My heart leaps up when I behold
A Rainbow in the sky:
So was it when my life began;
So is it now I am a Man;
So be it when I shall grow old,
Or let me die!
The Child is father of the Man;
And I could wish my days to be
Bound each to each by natural piety.
- William Wordsworth (1770-1850, England)
The Child is Father of the Man. Simple things of childhood have the power to guide our whole life.
I remember the joy which I felt, as a child, to see a rainbow.
I still feel the same happiness whenever I see it. The day I stop feeling that same joy, I would like to die.
I wish that innocence, love and ability to enjoy nature become my religion.
